Steeda pricey?

I swung by Steeda in Milton yesterday. The guys seemed ok, but I ended up buying a Steeda cold air kit, as well as a SCT Xcal 3 tuner. I think the price was pretty steep, but I was wanting them pretty bad. I paid $900, taxes included. The worst part was I have to wait, like a week, for my cai to come in! I was bummed, cuz I spent $900 and walked out of there, with a piece of paper(receipt!) I think a cai is a part they should stock. It's a pretty common mod!

I think so too. Maybe they've been selling a lot lately? Who knows. I do find them a bit pricey overall. They sell the FRPP Handling Pack for about $200 more than Ford does.

I don't blame them if they don't stock many. That's a lot of overhead dollars they have to carry. Could have also been that they were just out because of quick movement lately. Still, 1 week isn't that bad. Although it's always a downer when you pay for something and leave with nothing to show for it. Let us know when you get it installed and how you like it.

Pretty difficult to have one of eveything in stock, even for commen mods......I agree with lone sailor as far as that goes.

In all fairness Stangiac, I'm guessing you would have been told up front about the wait and chose to go ahead with your purchase anyway, so being bummed about the wait is kind of self inflicted.....not ripping on you by any means, but if you were that impatient, there are always other options.

Meh- besides....a week gives some time for the anticipation to build!! A CAI and tuner really wakes these cars up, and makes for a little more satisfying underhood noise level when you get on the throttle, plus installation is a breeze!

Can't speak for the XCALIII , but the XCALII gave a whole lot more flexibility for future mods as well...can be used to re-calibrate the speedo for rear gear changeouts, tire size changes and clearing/reading trouble codes!
Great mod man.....I'm sure you'll be really pleased with it!!

I guess my story about putting $5K down and waiting just over 18 months for my car wouldn't go over well with him.

Just ribbing you Stangiac.

The Steeda parts are good quality and although they seem a little pricey, they are worth it.

You'll appreciate the wait.

John

Yeah, I'm totally impatient! In fairness to the Steeda guys, they've been good about communication. Unfortunatly, I got an email from them today, stating that my cai didn't make this weeks shipment and I'll have to wait another week! They also told me that this kind of thing is gonna be corrected this winter and that they usually order a few at a time, but as I suspected, they sell quickly. I was hoping to cruise to Oakville this weekend, with my new mods! Oh, well, hopefully I'll have 'em installed by the Kitchener bbq, show n shine!

I had my KB stuff back ordered for 4 weeks..but I work for Ford parts and I know what it's like when you have a hot part...Recalls. The Steeda guys were great about communication and pricing I found for what I was looking for was good with shipping included..I know what you mean about having the the wait...been looking at a corner of my garage with the Paxton and more susp mods for the past 2 months driving me crazy!
