Has anyone added an aftermarket exhaust (cat-back) to their svt cobra? Mine is a 2001 (non-supercharged) and the exhaust is stock. Would like to replace the system but have no idea where to start - price is a factor, and I know the stainless steel ones cost more, but should I go for 2.5 inch diameter pipes or 3 inch? Flowmaster or Magnaflow? Or even SLP Loudmouth II?
Thanks in advance,
If price is a major factor then you cant go wrong with the Flowmaster CatBack. Nice sound and performance. I had that originally and it has the classic Mustang throaty sound.
For a bit more money Bassani IMO is the Ultimate sound, fit and finish are excellent.
I would suggest though that 2.5" is the max, mainly for clearance issues.
And going to a 3" is really over kill unless you had some 1000hp track monster.

I have 3" Bassanis with X pipes from the manifolds back and topped of with quiet thunder stainless steel mufflers and they sound awesome. Since you said that price was an issue, they are a little pricey.
I don't have a sound clip, but I'm sure if you go to YouTube you'll be able to get examples of the various exhaust setups.

From the cars I have heard, I would have to agree with Rick on this. His car sounds sick....Originally Posted by Cobra03SVT
Thanks guys, appreciate it.
I know a guy here in Burnaby with a 97 GT with 4" Magnaflow pipes.. talk about overkill. He wonders why he has no bottom end grunt.
Magnaflow catback here. Had no idea which to choose. Went to a Mustang exhaust website, listened to all the different exhaust tones and made my choice. Very happy with them.
I've got a Magnaflow catback and love the sound. One muffler I've been wanting to try is the Hooker Aero-Chamber thouth. They're one of the very best flowing mufflers out there and have a killer tone to them. The link goes to a LT1 Malubu but gets the point across!

Ive got Borla Stingers with an Offroad X on my 04 Cobra.
It is loud, but with the Stock H Pipe, it sounded great! I just love the sound of an X pipe, so thats why I changed it. Im going to put my high flow cats back in, in the spring.
I am at work right now, and no access to Youtube, but I will post up a video of my car tomorrow.
Has anyone used Dynomax for their systems? They have a stainless steel cat-back with straight through mufflers rather than chambered.
Hey Rick, dont you have a flowmaster catt back still you can sell him??
My personal prefference is the Bassani's, by far the best sounding, best made system on the market.
DMV nice one tire fire burnout....lol
I got the Borla Stingers with JBA headers and Mac O/R Prochamber. Its loud and pisses the neighbours off.
At wide open its pure sex!!
The fit and finish of Borla is unmatched. I am in the process of sanding and polishing it to a chrome finish!
IMO in the exhaust world you get what you pay for!!!
Bassani sounds very exotic on the 99-01 Cobras. Excellent fit and quality.
