2007-2009 Shelby GT500 Certificates of Authenticity

To my fellow GT500 owners,

The 2008 Certificates of Authenticity are NOW AVAILABLE for the Shelby GT500.

The cost is US$45 per certificate.

FYI - the 2008 GT500 Build numbers are as follows:

8,583 Total

6,513 Coupes
2,070 Verts

Mine is 1 of 1830 Torch Red coupes built of which it is 1 of 630 with the RED/BLACK interior and 1 of 214 with the Ebony stripes.

Hey John....congrats! That narrows it down pretty much to a "T".... 1 of 214 is a fairly select group IMHO.

I always thought it was a pretty cool thing as an owner to have all the documentation for your car.....had nothing to do with increasing the value of it, it was just neat to think of it going down the line and all the good folks in Flat Rock following the build sheet and putting the appropriate parts on. I ordered my 'vert and my sales guy printed off updates as the process went along... I've got printouts of the incomplete VIN and all the way through.

If there was an official piece of paper associated with the car, I've got it. The only thing I would do different next time is tell them to forget about the dealer prep...they had removed all the plastic off the seats and a lot of other protective coverings from shipping. Next time I get pics literally right off the trailer!!!

Nice touch to have the COA for your Shelby. Are you planning on displaying it with the car at shows, or keeping it in a safe spot? Guess a scan and copy would suffice for show purposes. Either way......pretty cool!!!!

I'll most likely get a reproduction of it made for car shows. As for narrowing down even further, the folks at SVT unfortunately do not keep stats on how many are made with the Canadian versions (i.e. metric instrument panel) opposed to the U.S. version because that would bring mine down much further in exclusivity. I have not heard of anyone else in Canada with my colour combo (I've seen a few Torch Red and White stripe combos), so for all I know my car I may be 1 of 1 with the Canadian version. If there are others out there, I'm sure the production number will be quite small seeing as there are only 214 worldwide.

Cool John. I also have mine, I think they are a wonderful record to have.

Mine is 1 of 119 Vista Blue with Tungsten stripes. The cool part for me is that Tungsten was only available in 2007.

I can get mine down to 1 of 214 Torch Red coupes with Ebony stripes. My original colour combo choice was Alloy with Tungsten stripes, but unfortunately for me, Ford ceased that colour combo at the end of the 07 model year. That was a very low production numbered combo, but I'm very happy with my current choice. Like yourself, I think my chances of running into the same colour car in Canada are pretty slim.

Hi John I just gave them a call and the gent said that they can not do mine until Ford Manufacturing gives them the final numbers and that could take us till the end of the summer before they can do it.

Hi letnan,

That is correct. They can only issue certs for the 2007 and 2008 model years as they have completed production. The 2009 model year certs won't be ready until sometime next fall. When you order your cert, ask about the window stickers as well as they have introduced those this year for an additional $10 when in combination with the production cert. The window stickers are duplicates of the ones that come stuck on the car windows showing the details of the options and price sheet. Pretty cool to have an extra mint condition window sticker for framing.

I was not made aware of that option when I ordered my production cert but will be placing my order soon.

Hey Bill...are you aware that there were only 3,559 GT500s made for the 2009 model year?

Yours will be from an exclusive list for sure.

I just wished that they also kept track of the number and colour breakdown of the cars built for the Canadian market, but they unfortunately don't do that.

John, I just made another post with the colour/year breakdown - but like you said, unfortunately they didn't track Canadian cars as a specific group. Anyhoo, I have 1 of 222 Ebony 'verts, or 1 of 56 Ebony 'verts with red trim interior, or 1 of 41 Ebony 'verts with Performance White stripes...now I wonder how many Ebony 'verts with red trim and performance white stripes there were? Fun with numbers *L*
