Anyone else heard about the King of the Road edition Shelby with 725hp and no warranty?

This one? Don't even get me started down that road.....nice ride, great look, great horsepower, great price (uh-huh)....totally out of reach for mere mortals. Meh.....maybe I'll hit the 6/49 and use one as a daily driver just for kicks!!!!

Just upgrade the GT500 to a twin screw S/C with supporting mods and you'll have equal power to the KR for less $$$$....IMO

They are an awesome car but for the price a Gt500 with the 2.8H KB mamoth blower and some bolt ons will woop its ass and look better for the same bucks

Just to clarify the 725HP question.

The KR (King of the Road) is rated at 540HP. There is no KR rated at 725HP.

The SS (Super Snake) is rated at either 605HP (with warranty) or at 725HP (without warranty). I believe the latter is the one you are referring to.

And as others have said, you can take a stock GT500 and with less than a third of the cost of what these 3 cars will cost you in 'premiums' over the base car, you will be able to kick all three of their butts back to their respective onwer's garages.

To clarify your clarification ( lol) the KR is purchased from the dealership as a KR (and subject to gouge pricing by dealership.) The SS upgrade is done by Shelby after you buy the car (send your car to either the Shebly factory in Nevada or the service centre they have in (I think) Maryland) and isn't subject to the gouge as you are buying the upgrade directly from Shelby, not from a dealership.

Maybe you're right..... I don't think I've ever seen an overpriced Mustang with Shelby's name on it........directly from Shelby of course.

To give some clarification to clarify the previous clarification ( I think I got that right) that is correct.

Anyone can purchase a GT500 and then send to Shelby in Las Vegas or Tasca as an agent in Long Island NY, and I think also Texas now as well to upgrade the car to Super Snake status for about 32K. Given the limited run of the KR, I don't know why anyone would upgrade that car to SS status as in my mind it would simply devalue the KR status.

Just my opinion anyway.

Kidding.......but $88,000+ is pretty steep for a Mustang...even if it has Shelby's name on it.

Late edit: Actually...thought about it and it's probably closer to $100,000 once you throw in taxes and incidentals......

I like the look of the KR but prefer my vert. if I wanted the extra 40HP I would slap on a couple things

Wifey likes mods but not that much. LOL.

I just can't justify that myself, for what you are getting.

The KR is basically nothing more than a little different tune and a CAI with exhaust and minor suspension mods. Performance wise it is nothing more. It will keep value due to limited production not due to performance, but at 120K plus, as you say, that is a lot of money for a mustang.
