Was messing around with the camera a few weeks ago and tried a shot and some photoshopping. I wanted to try a lower camera angle off the front corner to get a better perspective but haven't found a nice location to set up the shot yet. Anyone else try this effect?

definitely a cool effect. I'll give it a go once it's a little more presentable under my hood![]()
nice work! I've never done it that way, but I've done the hoodless shot....
I'll have to try that effect when my car's finished up
That looks pretty cool klaw.
You'll have to show how you did that the next time we get together (probably spring now).
Take care.

Getting pretty good at that stuff Klaw. Nice work.
Ford went to a great deal of trouble in 1954 to produce a transparent hood to display the new OVERHEAD VALVE ENGINE (US) They probably would have appreciated your help!

keep the hood off, that looks amazing!Originally Posted by xr8d302
Great job KLAW that looks good!!
Best of both worlds.....make a great MoTM shot!
Thanks everyone.Originally Posted by GT4MT
The technique worked but the shot angle flattens out everything under the hood. A little lower and off the passenger corner would have worked much better but I didn't have a workable camera platform at the time. Maybe a retry in the spring for one that would be MOTM quality.
For those that want to try it, you mount your camera on a tripod and take two shots from exactly the same camera position. In this case, one shot with the hood open and the other with the hood closed. The final pic is a superposition of both shots, removing the open hood, and adjusting the opacity of the closed hood. If the angle is chosen well, there is surprisingly little photoshop editing required.
You could use this technique for through the closed door interior shots or trunk shots as well.

I had the car parked (partially) on my front driveway and had the camera mounted on a tripod shooting out a second story window. Next spring, I'll try to find a better location.Originally Posted by skidad62
