Rare truck!

I was at the dyno again today watching a few buddies get their cars tuned. While there a Saleen S331 truck stopped in to get dyno'd; ending up making 323 to the wheels on a DynoDynamics machine. Sharp looking rig...

I will tell you it is rare when it is 25 to 30 years old. I really do not get this whole thing going on these days with people having new vehicles claiming they are rare. I will admit, low production numbers makes a vehicle rare, but collectibility is a whole other matter. I believe the total production number for a 1978 King Cobra was around 5000 units give or take. These were a Ford car not a tuner car and they were never considered collectable in most peoples eyes, thats why they are not woth much. Given there power plant but you see what i mean, i am getting sick of every new tuner vehicle being called "RARE" just beacause a few are built. It does not mean anything in my eyes, if it was made by Ford, that is a different story and i even have a hard time with the Shelby's, but that is another topic. Please give me a break, from a company that no longer exists claiming to have beefed up a F-150, yeah i can do that too, big fricken deal...
No offense to the owner of the truck but it will go down as being as collectible as the saleen explorer...

You are right and it is a nice truck, no doubt. I just can't get over how many specialty cars there are these days, it kind of dillutes the market.

The illusion of collectability and exclusivity (if that's even a word) is a great way to market your vehicles and sell your product.

Somehow "One of only five hundred!!!" sounds better than "One of umpteen thousands that rolled off the line same as the next!! "

My GT might be one of several tens of thousands like it, but it's the only one that belongs to me!!! How much more exclusive can you get?

AMEN brudder! Cars, first and foremost, are meant to be driven and enjoyed - all else is secondary. I bought the Shelby because it's the car I wanted, not the name. It's my daily driver and I drive it like I stole it!

hehe out of the maritime provinces the rock is the one I want to visit the most! Partied often with some NFL'rs on various army assignments, still remember being told my razor wire fence posts were too close apart.

Oddly enough, being french canadian of sorts, the beer helps!
