First FORD Vehicle

Been reading thru some of the introduction posts and I've seen where some people have posted about all the fords they've owned or driven at one time.

What your first FORD car?

Myself, it would be a 92 Crown Victoria (civilian edition).

Previous to the vic, I was driving an 81 Buick Skylark as an everyday/daily driver car (POS) and the tranny finally gave out and I was kinda screwed for a car.

I borrowed the Crown Vic from my dad and right away, I was pretty impressed with the ride of the car.

2 years later, he finally sold it to me, and I use it now as my daily driver.

... and the 88 Mustang is my second FORD purchased, and is another FORD vehicle that has made a quick and good impression on me!

Would I purchase another FORD? another GM? an import? .... guess it depends when that would happen and what the markets are like, and what models are available.

I like to keep an open mind amongst FORD/GM .... each has their pros & cons.

My first ford (actually kinda full circle now ironically), a 1983 Mercury Capri GS (5.0HO/5spd), in very stylish brown on brown with rust accents in the usual places. Its remains the only good memory of the relationship I was in the time, since I repeatedly saw it parked for over a year on the way to her house, left a note, bought it for less than a grand 2 days later, sold it three years later for over 2k without having done much other than tranfer te 14in dukes of hazard look alike wheels from the 84 Capri RS T-Top I bought and never started and sold (still kickin myself for doing that). That brown Capri was FLOGGED daily, and never let me down.
After that was some imports, a GMC halfton 4by, then a good old 91 Cougar 25th Anniversary edition XR7 (5.0 auto), another great car, never any engine issues, just the ubiquitous rear link clunks, consistant 30+mpg hwy (one tank ended up at 36mpg!!).

Of all the brands and experiences with vehicles I've owned, the fords have been the most reliable and enjoyed, guess I know how to take care of them best, and have never been stranded by one (other than a dead battery, every other brand left me somewhere at least once). And I still think they have the best style going when looking at the lineup overall...I think a Freestyle will be next.

My first Ford was a 1974 4 door Ford LTD with a 400 2BBL under the hood that I bought when I was 17 back in 1978. Grade 12 was a lot of fun with that car. Was a great people mover and had a huge back seat! Had a few GM products, then in 1986, I bought my brand new 1986 Mustang GT (red with black stripe). Owned a few 'other' brands until I took delivery of my 2008 Shelby GT500 on November 6th, 2007.

Other makes and models include:

1973 Toyota Celica ST 4 speed (learned to drive in this thing)
1973 Monte Carlo
1973 Javelin
1979 Camaro Z28 4 speed
1983 Honda Accord 4 speed
1987 Plymouth Sundance
1987 Acura Integra RS 5 speed
1989 GMC Jimmy 4x4
2000 Pontiac Montana
2002 GMC Jimmy 4x4 (still have - rainy day and winter beater)
2004 Pontiac Montana GT
2007 Buick Rendezvous (still have - wife's ride)

I might have missed 1 or 2, but that's my list.

John

69 Cougar XR7

Bought my first car in grade 11. It was a 69 Cougar XR7 powered by a 351 Windsor. Years later I shoehorned in a 320 horse 390 GT engine. Loved that car.
I would probably still own it if it weren't written off by a 17 year old who just received his licence the week prior to the crash.

my first Ford vehicle i have owned is my current ride: 2006 Mustang GT.

Although within the family my sister has owned two mustangs : 98 GT and 03 V6 Convertible.

My first Ford vehicle I ever sat in was a 91 Mustang GT that my Dad owned.... I used to be so jolly sitting in it.... LOL.... I guess what im saying is that the 91 Mustang caused my FORD bug which I have till this day.

Although my dad was a GM and Mazda guy his whole life (Nova, Malibu Classic, Phoenix, etc.)

I have obviously gone against the grain and my favorite two car brands are Audi and Ford.

My first car was an 85 GT when I was 17. Can;t really call myself a Ford guy necessarily as I'd whore myself out to any car that put a smile on my face. The only ones I won;t buy are Chryslers and GMs.

I had a '73 LTD 2-door with the 400 2 BBL at the same time as you John. For a big car that thing would go! I won alot of races in that car. I miled it out and then bought a '74 from my uncle - miled that one out too. Sure was sad when the wrecker came to tow that one off to the scrapyard. In the summer of '87 I drove that '74 from Calgary to Chattanooga Tennessee and back in a 10 day vacation.

First Ford was a 1989 Aerostar XLT with electronic 4WD w/4.0L v6.. I loved that van... just rotted out like crazy though, stupid rocker panels. First car was a 1982 Dodge 400 w/2.6L mitsubishi engine. 3 motors later I had it made into a cube lol.

My first was a 1988 F-150 4.9L I6, which I swapped out for a 5.0L. Then I got my 1990 Mustang coupe 2.3L for $150 still running strong with 215xxx KM on it. And I also have my 85 Capri.

My first Ford was a 1983 Fiesta..it had a whopping 950cc engine. It was a POS that put me off Fords for a long time....in fact it was 2005 before I'd buy a blue oval product again....of course you guys pretty much know the rest from there on in...lol

My first Ford was a 1964 Custom. I bought for $800 from a guy in Brandon MB in 1986. All it needed was a new muffler and a paint job. That car ran like a dream. I had to get rid of it when my first wife and I split. Man I wish I still had that car.

My first car i bought when i was 15, was a 68 Mustang coupe. It had a 200 straight six and even then four cylinder toyota's could beat it! It was my baby though until i came into a 1969 Javelin 390 4 speed after having my licence for a few months. If my father was a car guy, he would have never let me buy that car when i was 16. That car and i had alot of good times and way to many street races in front of JP Comp high school than i care to admit. After i blew that car up i had the ugliest car ever, a 76 Gremilin! It really hauled ass though as i had an amc 360, 401 heads, big cam and a rear end from a jeep with 411's. Put that thing together in 2nd year automotives in high school. Three bunny hops and the front wheels were off the ground about a foot. The short wheel base though made it way to crazy to keep straight.
I went into a mopar phase for a few years and had a nice 340 Dart and a few Dusters. Then i did a 76 Cobra 2 with a shelby spec 289 that really hauled ass.
I did a couple of GM builds, when i moved to Toronto in 1987, i left Edmonton with a 68 Chevy short box that i built. It had a 327, 202 heads and a 650 holley. It was lowered and painted a Corvette yellow. It looked really sharp, but was brutal on gas. I did have some fun in Ontario, had an 85 GT with a 351 and tr 3550. It was a joint project with a friend, and then i got married and sold out the half to my friend. Before i bought my Vert, i had an 83 turbo coupe that i really loved. I was going to build another 351 for that car and put the 2.3 turbo into a Ranger but i got invloved in an accident on the 401 in Scarborough from some idiot who lost it on snow and clipped me into a baricade. After the car was fixed it never drove the same, so i traded it in for my vert. Other notable Fords, 70 Mach1 351 4 speed. 1969 Torino Cobra 428 CJ 4 speed, 1966 Falcon 4 door 351 windsor auto, that one was a real sleeper that hauled ass. Did a 13.50 at the 1981 high school drags at the old Edmonton International Speedway. That car i shifted at 5500 rpm as the engine was new and it had highway gears with street tires and a c4. Of course i have had alot of ford pick ups over the years, mainly for towing duty. Ohh crap, i forgot to mention my T-Bird SC. That car is about to get painted Mazda celestial blue and the Roush intake and five speed will be installed after the paint job. Now, as far as Sally goes, it looks like i will be putting the build off until this winter as i have recently sunk alot of money into equipment at my shop. There is a chance i could have her going before the end of this season, but i think it will happen over this winter. I have most of the parts for it, but not everything. I would really like to post the build for it now but i hate to get ahead of myself. All i can say for now is Racin Jasons fox vert was always in my mind for this build and i have owned this car for over 20 years now. I plan on making it the Fastest Mustang Convertible in the world. I know those are strongs words to live by, but you only live once.
