A friend of a friend has an 82 GT t-top car for sale. He's had the car for over 12 years and it is in pretty good shape for the year. Almost no rust, just a couple small bubbles on one rear quarter and the bottom of the doors. Black interior in decent shape but the t-tops do leak. Runs very well with a recent rebuilt 302 with a newer edelbrock carb and rpm intake. Sounds good aswell with upgraded true dual exhaust. I could drive it away for a good deal if I bring a new battery. Has the original 4 speed but sits on 16" ponys and has and upgraded 8.8 out back. It's very dirty but looks like a great deal for the price for a driver and with a little elbow grease would be a clean ride. What do you think?

My cousin has an 1980 Cobra, and i love those cars, i know the 82 GT is similar to the 80 cobra, id pick it up for sure, they are cool cars, and with someone who really wants to make it a nice car it can be done, my cousins car isnt the prettiest but he went street strip car with it and it looks mean

If is remember right, Fords slogan for the 82 GT was "The Boss is Back" I would think the 82 GT should be a worthwhile car to restore to original especially with T-Tops. I know it would be a cool car to build into a fox rod but some of these cars will be worth money one day, the 82 marked the beginning of a new era in performance and should be a future collectable. I say go for it...

I would have to drive it home! Only one garage means one will have to go though.

Tough call, you have a passion for your 99, but budget issues keep you from playing/driving it. You miss turning wrenches and playing with your toy, right? In the long run, which would satisfy you, the car guy, the most? Continue modding the 99, a car you know and love, or the 82, which would benefit from your knowledge, talent and the proceeds from the 99? Temporarily being unable to play with your toy sucks, I am there right now (wifes company is closing Dec. 31), but if you love your car, hang on to it, times will get better. In all honesty, the 99 is a more sound piece, and you know the car. You have admitted the 82 leaks, how are the floors/toeboard? A repaired rotted unibody is always a repaired rotted unibody. I say go with what you know.

I'm really thinking more of cleaning up the 82 and selling it, we'll see.

There's another option....flip it and put the profit towards your '99!!
Orrrrrrrr.......buy it, clean it up, drive it for a bit and then make the decision. I'm with '00BlackGT, in regards to keeping your '99- that's a sweet looking ride, and from what I know just from hanging around here, there's a bit of time and money invested in it . Depends what works best for you I guess.... I'd love to have another Mustang, but a car and a half garage means there's only room for one!!! Good luck man! |

Good car shelter at CT for 359.00 this week (garage in a box 12' X 20'). I have one of these for my car and I do not regret it, cheap garage it is. If you wait too long it will be gone and you may regret it (car that is).
