Test Drove 09 glass roof GT

Drove a GT 2009 with the glass roof.
Nice car I did like the glass roof, it had a shade you could pull to block out the light if you wanted.
Don't think I would trade the 66. Asking price on it was 43,299.00
But I think a convt would be better.

I think the glass option is like $2500,is that correct?..I wonder how long it will be before I start getting calls to tint the glass roof(I have a window tint business). Its great that a shade is offered to block the sun if need be.

Wow, a loaded GT coupe around here can be had for about $30K. That's an expensive option, lol.

That was sticker price. Who knows what it would be if you sat down to do the paperwork

The glassback roof is a nice option, $43k would probably buy the vert option instead.

43K is nuts, you could get a Bullitt for less than that.

Having it as a factory option is cheaper than having it installed aftermarket...even as a $2500 option , I can't see the aftermarket price being anywhere near that. (Maybe $2500 to purchase the parts, but then there's the install labor to consider...)

That being said, it's great for the novelty factor, but for $43,000 why not go for a 'vert? Personal preference I guess....if you're not into 'verts, but want the wide open spaces (kind of), guess the glass roof is the way to go. Haven't actually seen one up close and personal, so it's hard to tell......

If / when I buy another coupe I'll probably go for the glassback option - it's a shame it can't be motorised to slide back & over the rear screen to give an open top though (Mr. Ford are you listening??...lol)

Yeah the only mustang on the lot in town is an '09 with a glass roof. 44K there, don't know how much you could talk them down.. I personally prefer the aftermarket glass roof to the ford option. Looks cooler, even if you don't have the option to shade it.

UK, that's exactly what I want. BC is too rainy (the part of the island I live on is actually considered a rain forest) to justify having a convertible for me, but those 3 summer nights that they would be worth it a year, a retractable hard top would be the sweetest thing ever. Aslong as you lost trunk and not back seat. Sweeeeet..

Looking at Ford's idea of a state of the art interior (Mustangs anyway), I don't see a retractable hard-top in the near future.

A retractable hard top would be nice but even if the glass roof panel itself lifted up & slid backwards over the rear screen it would be cool.

lol Mike - did I mention I have expensive taste?

I prefer verts too but a coupe would make a good companion for it - not that I'm short of Mustangs though ...hehe.
