Just got to thinking out loud on the '09 MC calender thread and came up with a thought (yah it happens every once and a while....).
20gt00 created a virtual calender page featuring the talented photography skills of MC Resident Photographer Arbour88's GT500.... I thought it looked pretty cool and might lead to an interesting idea. The paper copy of the '09 MC calender seems to have lost steam.... I thought , why not make up something easier? So, I'm taking 20gt00's idea and running with it for a bit. (apologies man...not trying to steal it, just think it's a great idea) What about the virtual calender idea, with a page that you could use for a desktop background on your computer???? Not sure of the logistics of the whole thing, so if any of the administrators could weigh in, that would be great. Not trying to make them any busier than they already are, just kind of throwing ideas out there. I did kind of shrug off the virtual calender thing , saying that we already essentially do that with MoTM, but after seeing 20gt00's handy work, I've had a change of heart. Maybe I just needed to see it to figure it out. Again- not sure of how, or more importantly, if, it would work, but I think it would make for some worthwhile discussion. Comments, good or bad,(but constructive), yay or nay are welcomed and encouraged. Last edited by GT4MT : 09-14-2008 at 4:00 AM. |

One thing we'd have to be aware of is that everyone's PC, mac, laptop etc will have a different sized screen so you'd need to format the image to accomodate the most popular sizes.

If I'm understanding what you mean UK PONY, I think it could be posted as is, and it would be up to the individual member to tailor the image to suit thier needs as required.
I'm no computer expert, but I'm not sure I understand why the image would need to be formatted to accomodate the most popular sizes...do you mean when it's posted on MC or when each member selects it for thier desktop? Thanks 20gt00....just wanted to make sure whoever came up with the idea got the credit that was due...certainly wasn't my idea, but I really think there may be some merit to it. Late edit- Just for laughs, I set the mock up pic that 20gt00 made up as my desktop background, and damned if it didn't look pretty sweet. I would encourage everybody to give it a go and see how it works for your particular set up.... Last edited by GT4MT : 09-14-2008 at 4:49 PM. |

I personally don't see a need beyond the Mustang of the Month stuff, but I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade.
Certainly would be a lot easier to put together than an actual calendar though.

I meant when it was posted on MC - usually when you download a wallpaper it will be available in various sizes to suit your screen. I'm not sure how much of a big deal it would be to do but if it's going to take too much of someone's time then we can make do - if that's the case let's bear in mind it's easier to size down rather than up without distortion. |

Well there you go...'shows how much I know', and 'learn something new every day' are two phrases that come to mind !! Thanks for the clarification UK Pony....good point.

Not really....just kind of died. I don't have the skills to set up the pic, so I guess the next logical step would be to look for a volunteer to do that and then see about submissions/voting.
Probably wouldn't hurt to get an opinion from Darren or shakes as to whether or not it would be workable. I think this could be something we could do as members, amongst ourselves, without burdening the administrator's busy schedules with more stuff. Ideas anyone? |

I guess i am just old fashioned but i would prefer a real calender that i could hang up at my shop. I don't let anyone near my pc so i would be the only person who would see a desktop one.

After I'm done with my exams I'll have some time to help with this....maybe 20gt00 will do the first few & then I'll take a turn for a bit. If the images are hosted on photobucket they won't take up bandwidth on the site but I agree Shakes should at least be consulted to make sure we're not stepping on his toes. |

I agree a real calendar would be nice so it can be shared with others but that idea seems to have died also. You could always print the images each month & pin it up. |

It's really too late in the year to actually get a wall calendar turned out in time. I know everyone was emailing and posting up in the other thread so that Digiti could get them all together. Not really sure what happened, as the other thread died even with people posting wanting to know what was going on. I think getting a '10 calendar is probably going to be our best bet at this point, unfortunately.

That could be a possibility. Of course that would probably require someone like Shakes to put it together. Unless there are others that have the programs to do it.
