update on the "mongoose"

its been awhile since i posted but heres the update .

after the armdrop event ( i ran a 13.00 @ 120mph and missing 3rd ) , i was a little disapointed but i broke the shifter 3 times goin down the track. cheap pro 5.0 junk. . so driving home , the temp was rising up and down like a yoyo. pulled over and it souneded like shit. called the tow hook to come and get her. tore it down to see that the number one cyl had a crack in the wall. decided to quit playin around with a stock block and decided to give her what she needed. bought a probe pro street 331 stroker short block. put it all back together , got it tuned by eric brooks , she pulled a 470 rwhp @4600 rpm and 561rwtq @ 4000 rpm.all at 14psi. a safe tune. she has a lot left in it but i wasnt about to push it too hard just yet. ive been driving it for the last month and lovin it. it pulls like a hooker on her first date. im very happy with it now but when all this happened i was 1 sec away from pushing it out of my garage and setting it on fire. .

Very nice numbers, gotta love the torque. I heard Eric Brooks was making a trip up to Edmonton.

Sorry to hear about the demise of your old engine but glad you're happy with your new one. It's making good numbers there - have fun with it.

it took about 1 week from order to my door step. total was just under 4300.00 , delivered to my door. i ordered it from western motorsports in cowtown. its a killer motor, forged everything , and built to my specs. i told them what i had in mind for this car and the turbo system i was running and 1 week later i was bolting it into my car. they SAY itll handle up to 650hp with out any problems. they have the same motor in 1 of their test mules and the have been running it at 650 to the rear wheels with out a hic up for the past 2 years. it depends on what you want , but i would order another 1 off them in a heartbeat.

ya its kinda funny, guys pull up to it give their shit box a wap on the throttle, ill be doin about 50km nail the throttle in 3rd gear and it fries the tires off. theyll pull up , thumbs in the air with their jaws on their laps. . its a total sleeper. quiet exhaust untill you throttle it and the turbo screams , then they know they picked the wrong mustang. just for instance i ran a z06 , tuned , piped , ect. we were side by side with me blowin the tires off my car. he was more than impressed. i wasnt as i wanted to hand him his ass but slamin gears and frying the tires beside a tuned z06 made me feel damn good. traction is a problem right now but some good sticky tires and i should be ready to rock his shit box.

That is the HP stage 2 66mm kit is it not? Is that the Holeset or Garrett turbo? That still is a stock block though correct?
Great numbers man looks killer...

wow good eyes. . the turbo i dont know. on the housing it says a/r . ya its still a roller block ( new cast) but still a roller. fully forged bottom end , stud gurdle , valley gurdle. its still the weak point but it will be good enough till i get the boss block. then im going to have to do some more susspension work to get this rocket to hook. im happy with everything i have sone to this point but i can see it already , the car is sick fast but i want it faster.

Right on, that HP kit is a very good set up, they originally came with the Holeset which some like better, then HP switched to the Garret. Either way it is very good quality. I have a good conection on control arms if you are interested, The guy races in NMRA and has very nice parts for a good price, he will even mail you the parts so no brokerage BS. He sells all the rear suspension components, including nice axle braces ect. Pm if you want more info, and yes he is legit and trustworthy.
