Heres my 2 cents...This was my 1st International, but not my last.I think maybe some people forget the real reason we attend functions such as this.To me its to meet and socialize with people with the same interests as me"Mustang people".The competition part is secondary. So you had to wait for a burger. The tech guys may have short changed you..The parking lot wasnt spotless.I think for the measly $45 charged to show your car in a cordoned off parking facility (with full time security I might add),meet with like minded folks, and enjoy 300 quality cars and trucks is a deal. The organizing committee in my opinion were gracious, pleasant, and more than willing to help this half-wit Bullitthead out whenever I asked a question. Is there room for improvement?...of course!...but it makes no sence to me to slander the organizers or competitors here. Mr.Beater, perhaps when you host the next show you may grace us with your presence and show us all who is 'the hostess with the mostess'.

I am not interested in getting into a pissing match, but I will address a few of your concerns. First off, V6 or not few cars out there sparkle and shine the way UK Pony does, it is extremely well detailed and obviously shows well enough to win an award. Due to the fact that Calgary had 43 cars at the International I am pretty certain they had close to what Saskatoon had for cars(Which is awesome). I truly dont believe in the Vote for Club cars unless they truly deserve it! That said I also did not vote as I was too busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off, and I know a fair number of our members were in the same boat! I think your conspiracy theory has a few holes in it....Sorry Was the 29th International Perfect? NO, it was not, but as with any International things happen that sometimes we have no control over. Such as the BBQ, which was a charity event which was totally run by one of our major sponsor's, there was food for 500 people, however they were not expecting the mad rush which I will admit happens every year, and creates line ups, That said anyone that decided to stay and wait was fed and a lot of them went back for seconds. If you were one of the 20 or so people who was out there Wednesday with brooms shovels and pails until well after you could no longer see what was dirty, and what was not you would have realized that we had done what we could. You really have to realize that this is all done by volunteers, and you would be amazed the amount of crap that came off that lot. The teching was performed by the same guys that have done Tech for years, I really cant say much as there is no questions as to what class I am in All in all our goal was to put on an International where there was something for everyone to enjoy. Did we succeed..... I think so.... Could we have done better, absolutely! But reality kicks in, and no matter how you slice it we are not perfect just as you are not I am sure, but feel free to prove me wrong in 2010! If you think it will be in Winnipeg you better recheck your sources...... It WONT BE! Guys lets not get out of hand with this, as everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thank You Ed One of 7 Organizers of the 2008 International Mustang Meet Lone Performance Organizer |

This is what I hate, you join this site just whine about crap. The meet was there for people to have a good time, and hey if you didn't then keep it to yourself. But its the interweb.. you can pick stupid fights with people and no one gets hurt. |

No I don't think that is the only reason he joined but he is sharing his own opinion and thankfully we are able to do this in Canada unlike some other countries in this world. The one thing about freedom of speech is some of the listeners may indeed be offended by the speakers opinion. We are all entitled to speak as we all have the right to choose whether or not we want to listen. At some point in time in life we all choose our "hill to die on" but at least it is our choice. |

I saw them setting up extra tables after the initial rush - hopefully everyone (you included) got a seat. If you didn't then you have a legitimate gripe. I'm saying that if you are extra fussy about the cleanliness of the parking lot then you need to do what you need to do. I have alot of money and time in my car too and didn't feel that the parking lot was that bad. What about an older one that was purchased new and never used and always stored inside? Are you saying that everyone should have to document how bad their car was to start and then how perfectly restored it is now? When it comes right down to it, vintage, body style, performance, color, etc are such personal tastes it's kind of silly to have a vote for "best in class". What the hell does that even mean? Who's to say that the butt ugly gull winged mismatched color piss yellow vert that I can't stand is better than SLWD's almost perfect Bullit? Maybe UK's new S197 is better technologically, economically, and environmentally than your vintage ex-rust bucket gas hog pushrod car? What does "better" or "best" mean? The Int'l had classes, voting, and prizes. I don't always agree with the setup or the outcome but it is what it is. I don't care if I win or not because I like to build my car (MY car) - not what I think someone else will like/vote for. And yes - I set this whole thing up - just because I knew it would piss you off.

Why don't you at least introduce yourself - show us your car etc so that we can take you seriously. You know who I am - you have pictures of my car from every angle and every description and know that I'm from Calgary. At the next show or event come up and introduce yourself. Don't be the kind of guy that comes in here all high and mighty, throws some mud around, and then slinks off into anonymity.

I wasn't at this intnl, but plan on being there next year. I've got an 08 CS and am very proud of it. I thought these get togethers were to meet fellow car lovers and have a good time. If a few things not up to a perceived standard at a car show are the biggest problems in your life, man have you got it made.Did you meet any body new or have some good chats. Probably. Life is to short to worry about the small stuff. I'm sure the organizers did the best they could. They are volunteers not professionals. It's good that you voice your concerns, thats what makes the world go round, but man, put it all in perspective. Thats all from me.

Wow criticsm from an anonymous person who can only value their own opinion. Hmm maybe I should just quit the car hobby then .You are entitled to your own opinion - that is fine, feel free to voice it. However a few things you should know; 1) I've been in Canada 3 years & attended 3 Internationals 2) If I choose to have a newer car that is my choice, should we ban newer cars because it doesn't meet your strict criteria to have them alongside older ones? 3) I have won several awards before last week with 30 year old MG's (is that old enough for you?) 4) The fact that it is a home town car may have influenced some people, the 25 hours of detailing that went into it may have influenced others. I'm so glad you won too - good for you. Since you have been to so many Internationals I would have thought you may have learnt that car people should appreciate other peoples rides even if they don't like them personally. I thought about not responding to your post but asked myself why I should shy away from an opinionated noob who clearly thinks he / she can do everything better than anyone else. 2010 will be in Red Deer so enjoy Winnipeg on your own fella. On the bright side you'll definitely win your class again if you're the only vehicle in it...heck you may even stand a chance at best in show. If the line up for the food at a CHARITY barbeque was too long for your sensitive self you could always have volunteered to help cook. I guess it's just easier to complain about it isn't it? Could the BBQ have been better? For sure it could, we'll learn from it & pass along our experience for the benefit of the next International crews. Was the parking lot as clean as it could have been? Nope but sweeping it by hand in the dark doesn't work too well, we had 20 or so people working on it for 5 hours or more until we could see no longer. If you can fit a broom in your 67 then feel free to bring it & help out - we appreciate help when we get it. Why are going to stop posting? Do we all have to think the same way? I hope not - debate is good! Whining, not so much. Glad you found something positive to say about the International - Ed worked very hard on organising the performance events, apparently he even reached your high standards. |
