well I finally got a chance to check out the new Challenger.

Finally got a look at the new SRT 8 Challenger(this one horse town is deathly slow in bringing new models in).I was inpressed with the workmanship the Mopar boys exibited especially on the paint. They also didnt skimp out when it was time to install seats, cause those look real comfy and supportive.A buddy of mine is fixin to order an SRT8 so next spring or so ill let you know what they drive like.hehe.Oh and about that 425hp hemi, damn that thing sounds nasty!...We'll see just how nasty in the coming months.

There was a pre-production one at SuperRun this weekend, every time I saw the thing it was driving away though so never got a chance for a close up look. Saw enough though to tell me that I'd quite happily have one when I can afford one - just love the styling of them.

It seems the success of the retro styling of the S197 Mustang has inspired the opposition to create some nice looking vehicles again. Both the new Challenger & the new Camaro look great - I doubt we'll have another horsepower war (as in the 60's & 70's) but competition is always good.

Isn't that always the way? Mustang leads...others follow!!! lol

I know it's not the most realistic thinking, but I'm still holding on and thinking happy thoughts for the 45th Anniversay Mustang!!! C'mon 400hp minimum!!! That being said, I wouldn't mind a Challenger in my driveway either, but it would have to be a standard, not automatic!!!!

I haven't heard one yet, but if it got the smellslikewetdog seal of approval for soundin' nasty, that's good enough for me!!!!

Saw one on the highway, definitely beautiful cars. There's already ads out there to reserve yours today for $20K over MSRP. I'd still take a GT 500, lighter (imagine that) and more power.

Ugh... that sort of thing still burns my ass. I just posted in the Shelby vs Cobra thread that there was an ad in the paper this weekend for GT500's for $4000 under MSRP......nice to see after all the "dealer adjustments" when they first came out.
I'm not knocking anybody that throws down thier hard earned cash to get one, 'cause if it's what they really want, then it's thier payments, but I still hate to see the gouging.....

Well apparently there's only 500 coming to Canada so it looks like nobody will get it for close to sticker.

Unfortunate, but very true!! Funny you should mention that j-roc....here's a little Challenger trivia for everybody.....(why do I feel like Cliff Claven all of sudden??)
When I was at the Mopar Nationals , I wondered why the Challenger on display had a "500" emblem on the front grille...appprently all 500 of the Challengers allotted to Canada will be unique in having that emblem on the drivers side grille, instead of the SRT emblem.

Everyone knew this was going to happen with the limited number coming to Canada.

It is ridiculous and unfortunate, but as long as people put up the cash, the dealers will sell these cars for whatever the public is willing to pay.

The sad part is that the true enthusiasts may find these prices out of reach.

It'll be interesting to see what the Camaro will be selling for.

John

My prediction it will go the way of the new GTO. I give it four years maximum before it's gone again.

It will be interesting, built in a flex plant, volume can be controlled quite easily, and there is talk of a 2.0l turbo version(Solstice GXP engine). I hope it lasts longer than that, competition is good for the enthusiast.

My uncle has two of them at his dealership and they are going to auction them off with the extra money going to a couple of charities.
I thought that was a smart move as it doesn't make his dealership look like a gouger and will give them great exposure too. I really like the cars but i don't understand why no manual transmission..
