Thats kinda crappy....I wasn't a huge fan, but I liked tuning in the odd time to see what they were up to on American Hot Rod. Always respected the attention to detail and passion for cars that Coddington had.
" Tempers run short as the Coddington crew struggle to complete the "insert project here" before time runs out......" Good for a laugh... |

An American icon for sure. That's a great loss for the Hot Rod world.

While I wouldnt charactorize Coddington as "Mr. Personality" by any stretch of the imagination,I certainly respected the man's work.In fact ,Im not sure if the nasty persona he put forth wasnt all just for "good T.V.".Either way its a shame and the car world will miss him.

I never really liked him for the way he treated his employee's and former employee's (Chip Foose)...But I will admit that he did build some of best hotrods ever, and I never like to hear news that someone has passed on to the afterlife...RIP

Wow, it's just too bad that the TV show will be the way he is remembered to a lot of people...
He was very talented and the metalwork that he was capable of is amazing. RIP Boyd... |

I don't know if it was just the TV show or not but it seemed all of his later stuff was rushed because of those crazy deadlines. It seemed quality was going south and he wanted to squeeze in more projects just to make a buck. Then you go to Foose and if it takes him an extra 6 months to do something he doesn't care just as long as the finished product is perfect. Hard to know for sure just watching their TV shows. Anyway, RIP to an automotive icon.
