So after hearing and seeing what everyone else has been doing to their car, I got to thinking what I could do, you know, being that I am totally out of money for the car at the moment!! DOH. I sat in the car last night for a while, then talked to J-roc. Wasn't sure if I could do what I wanted to do though. You see, I have a fear of breaking shit, and needing to buy all new peices. So after work today, I decided that I would just give it a slow go and see if I could figure out how to get this stuff off with out breaking any of it. In case you haven't guessed yet, or simply don't care, which I could also understand, I am talking about all the the interior trim pieces. The instrument cluster bezel, the HVAC/sterio trim, the peice around the shifter, some air vent carriers and the door trim peices around the power/window buttons. Guess what, I got it all out after taking my time. Didn't break anything either. YEAH!!
Wow this post got long fast! Sorry guys, I just like it when I get to work on my own car, make an improvement and don't "f " anything up. Anyhow, I got to doing something I'm good at, prepped all the peices, masked off the shifter boot and trim on it, then painted them all in a satin graphite black. So it almost looks stock, but with a twist. There was some scuffs and gouges on some of them anyhow. Also on the instrument bezel there was a bunch of hardened glue there from a sloppy alarm led install. All that is gone now, and the shit, I think looks good. But we'll see about my color choice once everything gets back in the car. I'll also see if I can get some pics where you can tell what they look like now. Wow this is really long enough now, so..... ![]() |

Always interesting to see what my fellow Mustang fanatics are up to, so yah...I think it's pretty cool to work on your car and post it!!! Pretty much what it's all about, I think!!!
Love the look of the satin graphite black...subtle, which is always good, and a bonus if it corrects any past abuse. Pretty meticulous work DMW- nice! |
