It seems that first generation Mustangs are much more expensive in Canada than in the USA or Europe. I might be wrong but from what I can see in Autotrader or other ads papers the cars are to highly priced.
Can anyone tell me what the process would be to import a classic from USA or Europe (they have real good deals there)? |

Hello,
In fact it's not practical to buy a Mustang in Europe, the transport cost is to high, what is the model you want ? I our club in Montreal we have many vintage, some are in perfect shape, but other need restoraton, it's surely possible to buy a project car in good shape for around $10,000 - $15,000,00, if you look for the best quality it's not the same budget. I think the price is inflated because a rust free car is more rare if it has been in Canada. Southern US is your best bet for finding a good clean car. My Dad's '71 came out of Oklahoma but I do not know the process that was involved - he got it through a guy in Stratford, ON that imports cars as a business.

I can't afford to buy anything right now but I might be able to do it in a year or two. It will certainly be a rust free 69/70 fastback to restore even with a six cylinders.
I can't post any links here yet but I have seen 69 and 70 mach1 for less than $20,000. If they are in as good shape as they say, you will still save a lot of money. My sister shipped a car across the atlantic for less than $2.000 Many American and Canadians soldiers based in Europe brought their Mustangs over the years and with the price of the gas over there they, they spent most of the time in a garage. I had a 69 coupe in France imported from California 10 year earlier and except the interior and the original faded paint, it was in perfect shape. I bought it and sold it for the equivalent of $7000 CAN six years ago. I have never seen anything close to that price around here except rust bucket. El Docum, does your club have a website where the cars for sale would be displayed? Freakshow12, you have a very nice project for a great price but for me it will be a fastback or nothing ![]() Any links with classic Mustang projects in Canada would be appreciated. Thank you for your replies. |

Hello,
You can go in this place : Montréal Mustang (Powered by Invision Power Board) After go in the section classified, there not a lot of vintage but you can find some. In Quebec the best place to look is : Autos d'occasion Québec, camions d'occasion, achat vente autos d'occasion, concessionnaires automobiles - Hebdo.net Also : LesPAC - Site d'annonces classées numéro 1 au Québec. Immobilier, Autos, Emplois, Rencontres et plus There a sub-section for old car, you can surely find Mustang 69-70. F. |

![]() Thank you for the links El Docum. There is a beautifull 1969 Mach 1 in New Brunswick for $35.000 on Hebdo.net. Interesting price but too much for me. I bought "Deals on wheels" a few times but the cars are mostly in the States and all in perfect condition. There is also a company in Ontario (wayneroweclassiccars.com) that imports rust free projects from Arizona. They have sometimes very interesting Mustangs and when I'll be ready I might contact them to see if they can find me something. |

Hello,
You can go to the site of Deals on Wheel and look for the new cars : Deals on Wheels Publications - Muscle Cars, Classic Cars, Used Cars, Auto Parts, Street Rods, Hot Rods, Customs, Car Parts, Exotic Cars, Trucks, Imports, Antique Cars, Classifieds and more! The Buy, Sell, Trade publication But the price of $35,000,00 seem normal form me, if you found one at $15,000.00 you can be sure that the car will need a lot of work. F. |

Even new cars are outpriced in Canada. The prices are far beyond the standard exchange rate from USD.

You can take a look at the price of classic Mustangs in Europe. Even with the shipping cost, I am quite sure there is great deals there.
eng.autoscout24.com Make sure you check "Europewide search" before to submit your search. There' a nice 65 fastback to restore for about $10.000 US. Last edited by mustangv8 : 05-25-2007 at 11:34 AM. |

For importing a vehicle into Canada contact Registrar of Imported Vehicles, Registrar of Imported Vehicles RIV: How to import a U.S made vehicle into Canada or 1-888-848-8240. Make sure you ask what modifications have to be done for the vehicle you want to import . I purchased a new 06 GT last Nov in Arizona and brought it into Canada last month. I first checked out everything with RIV and found them to be very helpful. Also I found the savings Stateside went beyond the exchange rate. If anyone is considering buying a new Stang in the US and needs some help, give me a shout.
