Car came from NC Shakes. Had it imported this past winter. Got all the org papers with the car, inc window sticker, 2 plastic keys that were issued from Ford back in 89, ( for your wallet ) plus the org keychain with the dealerships name on it where the car was bought new. All body panels have the org tags. Car still has the red oxide paint on the floorboards from the factory. Car was never dinged or raced. Cars doors and deck lid open and close like a new one. Also drives like a new car. No rust whatsoever on car. Spare tire was never used. It still has the 2 green stripes going around the tire, like it was issued back in 89. I had to move the K frame a bit. The wheel was scraping the bumper extension on the drivers side when on a hill at a certain angle. Won't tell you what my first thought was on that. Had the top ford bodyman check the body out at the dealership. He could'nt believe what he was looking at and just shook his head. I found out from a previous Ford mechanic, ( the bodyman ) that some of these cars came off the ass line new that way back in 89, with the K frame out of wack a bit; but not many people knew about it. Now the car runs straight like it should. That's also why the tires were scalloped on the outer edges The car has never had too much replaced in 18 years, so guess who got that job and expense ? The interesting part is yet to come........ I am the 4th owner. Through the paperwork, I traced all of the owners, right back to the original one. I decided to try and send him a letter this winter not knowing if it would even reach him. Well, he moved alright since 89, but the postal service forwarded my letter to him 2 doors down. Go figure! He is a mechanic himself and runs his own garage in NC. We have spoken on 3 different occassions since the winter. He sold the car to a guy in Ohio that ran a Corvette dealership, who inturn sold it to a guy in Boston. The guy in Boston had 2 of them (fox coupes). The other one was in better shape than this one and was.... NOT FOR SALE. I figure it will take me 2 years to get it the way I want it. Right now all I want to do is drive it. |

That's some good ol' car history foxhtn... it's cool when good stories go along with how you obtained your stang. Are you planning on modifying it? or just rolling around stock?
