To:Arbour88,I clicked on your "my photos" and checked out the other pics ya got including the black Shelby.I got to say I love the plate on that black car,Im thinking buddys got to be Newfie(affectionately used term only). It reminds me of a Newfie girl here that had a bumpersticker that read"Newfie girls kick arse".

smellslikewetdog, you're absolutely correct, the black Shelby onwer is a newfie. I had to show his plate. His younger brother just bought the identical car. Let the sibling rivalry begin!

True, but it's all relative. If you come, better bring lots of dough with you to get started. Housing costs are through the roof and good luck finding a place to rent. Anyone thinking of coming here for work really needs a good plan, a job and a place already lined up. |

Well I've been here since '96, so I got in before the housing market really took off.
You're right 'Fosters82GT', without a plan and a fairly good job lined up, it would be tough for someone (or a young family) moving to Calgary with hopes of making it into today's housing market without some pretty good sized start up capital. FYI - Back in the spring of 2004, I held off pulling the trigger on a brand new red 2004 Terminator convertible sitting in the showroom when I heard whispers of a 'Shelby' Mustang possibly a 'GT500' version hitting the streets in 2006. That rumour was enough for me to hold off and patiently wait it out. I'm glad I did. John

I certainly agree the housing situation in Calgary is brutal.I lived there 29 years and moved to Medicine hat(3 hours drive s.e. of Calgary) in 1991.The market here is higher than it was when I moved here, but its relatively affordable.$200,000 will get you a small starter home, and there are more jobs in the gas industry than you can shake a stick at.Problem of course is you have to be prepared to be away from home for extended periods of time.I think for a single guy, wanting to "make hay while the sun shines",this is where you got to be.Big money real fast, but you do get burnt out fast.
