Got MY 1st oilchange done...=Pricey

Well, my car was in the shop yesterday...It got the parking brake cables replaced a-la-tsb, finally got a set of floormats into it (didn't come with, but dealer promised to get...they got me mustang embroidered black ones), a new key and keyfob (car was sold to me with only 1, but they got another one made).

I also got MY 1st oilchange done, and it seemed kinda pricey...$102 after taxes. Then again, I thought about it...they DID put in 5w20 FULL synthetic Motorcraft engine oil I asked for. Along with a new filter, the inspection, etc...around $90ish before taxes sounds about right. I used to do my own oilchanges on my Focus, and they still cost me $60-$70 after buying 5 liters of 5w20 Full Syn, and a filter.

Anyone else get theirs done at the dealer? I also did this because it was too damned cold here in Petawawa to do it outside...lol

I stay as far away from the dealers 100 buck an hour bs as i can. I do all my own work, cept for alignments and some exhaust....and of course the finer points like machine work etc. I have a garage, but id still lay in the slush and mud before i went to a dealer for that.
Not....that i hate the dealers around here. haha

You're winter driving that thing?? I've gotten 2 oil changes, haven't put synthetic in it yet but I probably will as of April when it comes out.

Well, I AM driving it in the winter for now, until I get my truck fit for the road again (should be in the next 2 weeks). After switching to Synthetic, I noticed an obvious difference...the car pulls even harder in the first 2 gears, especially 2nd at WOT. I also noticed that the engine seems to have a slightly faster throttle response, and also the car is using a little bit less fuel now too. I had results like this when I switched to Synthetic 5w20 Motorcraft in the Zetec in my Focus too.

I would have liked doing my own oilchange, but I'm not going to do that until spring, as we've had some -35 C weather here BEFORE the windchill...

We bought a Focus last year and get the oil changed at the dealer, it's about $35 with regular oil and every second change is free. I do my own oil changes on my Mustang with full synthetic, costs no where near $60!
