I Recently found a car that I am interested in. (sorry no pics) It is an 88 GT, with 130 km's. Black with grey interior. Inerior is awsome, the black paint hasn't really been taken care of, and in my opion needs to be painted, but the body is really straight. The car has ugly aftermarket 16'' honeycome looking black wheels with decent rubber. A set of lx tail lights, and a sun roof.
Here is where the fun begins, it has a stock short block with eddy rpm heads, bbk upper and lower intake with a 70mm throttle body and spacer, a rpm cam and timing chain, crane 1.7's, 24 lbs ford racing injectors and fuel rails, fuel pressure regulator, bbk chrome shorties, o/r h pipe, flowmaster 40 series mufflers in 2.5''. all done with in 10,000 km. The problem is the car has never been converted from map to maf. It is not hard to do and own the computer, and wireing harness. The car doen't run to great right now if you ask me but that's obvious. He is asking $6,000 but i think i can get it for 5, what do you guys think? Thanx all opions welcome Dagz ![]()

that's what i thought although it needs some work, every car will never be exactly the way i want it.
To build something that would cost alot more money than to buy that one. I have a 6al box and blaster coil, and CAI that would make it a little sweeter and a set of 3.55's. Oh ya forgot to mention that it has AC delete and smog delete, and a center force dual friction cluch brand new in the box, clutch appears to be ok in the car right now. So anyone else?

sounds good... can't belive he didn't do the conversion.
Doesn't sound very bright so i'm sure you could talk him down to 5. I'd say get it... specially if it's black.

I have always wanted a black 88, Yes buddy is a dumb ass and traded his chev pick up for it, now he wants another chev pick up, I don't think he really knows anything about ford fuel injection so i told him i couldn't even believe the car was running like that and it was like the end of the world to convert the car over. HAHAHAHA.
Do you think running the car like that would give it any problems, concidering the injecter pulse, air flow and timing have been effected. Dagz

It will run, but not well. Speed density just isn't mod friendly, especially when lopey cams are part of the picture. In short - convert it a harness is under 30$ and is not a bad job to do at all. Shakes and I will be documenting the conversion within the next few months on his car so stay tuned. All you can really do to nurse speed density is to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and try and find a happy medium between a decent idle and wot performance. There really not much else you can do with it. For the price of a FPR though, you may as well get the conversion harness. Until then you will likley find everything from a hard start, to bucking at part throttle and decel and you will have to read you plugs to be sure you arn't running dangerously lean at WOT.

I have all of the information and parts to do the swap i am mechanically inclined, and have all the tools.
Ya i am concerned that there is a chance the car could be running lean. I looked at the chrome shorties and they are still in nice shape. I know when i put mine on my car they were blue in a matter of no time. So this tells me it can't be running too bad. It has a fuel pressure regulator and is tuned to the best of the guys knowledge, but does struggle to idle of course. Thanx for all the help and info it is always appreciated Dagz

the color of your headers is no indication of how well the car is running.
Take the car for a hard run and then pull over and pull a plug. See if she's white on the electrode at all. White = lean black = rich brown = good.

ya that's right, but don't you think running a car lean will heat up the headers and cause them to turn blue.
But ya i will look at the plugs after i take the car for a good rip. It is just hard with 3 ft. of snow on the ground if ya know what i mean. Dagz

If they are chrome headers belive me they are gonna turn blue no mater what. Only think you would tell from your headers if if they were glowing red after a hard pull but that's it. I've owned and installed many many bbk chrome headers and they all go blue after driving it a few times.
