Superchargers - got whipped

I have been checking out many options for induction horsepower. I have a 06 roush mustang and was pretty much set on a roush supercharger. The stage 3 upgrade supercharger ups to 445HP! (cost $9,800 at Cochrane Ford) maybe a little more with alternate tune? I had the TVS2300 (510 -700HP) priced at Waterloo Ford $8,900 installed - no tune. Called Ford about spec of 4.6L V8 = 475HP. Ford also states TVS not recommened without bottom end upgrade, problems have occurred??? After talking to many guys at race city in Calgary - whipple at 10 pounds boost seems is time tested and best price. So I have order and just received a whipple. Hard to install? Who can Tune? Do I just have someone do both?

Welcome to MC Sparky - can't answer your question but can suggest you post it in the forum for your year of car...you'll get a much better response there.

Welcome aboard. There are several good options for superchargers on these cars. Personally, I like the Whipple, but the Roushcharger is no slouch, and of course you can't say a KB won't pump out some power.

Having a s/c mustang is great from any manufacture. I did not find to much on K.B. supply or installer in Calgary with may installs under there belt. My object was to find a supercharger which will give performance, but not have a ton of maintainance, and be common enough as to get advice or help.

Most are going with the Roushcharger or Whipple so they can keep the factory warrant. I'm not sure who can do the installs in your area, but someone will know and post it up for you.

I have your same setup and installed it myself. Matthew at Tecmotion did my tune using a Diablosport Predator. I highly recommend doing the install yourself if you have the room, the time, and any mechanical ability at all. There are many places in these kits to take shortcuts in the interest of time/money that may not show up immediately but might down the road. I'd be willing to help with the install. My car has 8000km on the Whipple since install without any issues whatsoever. PM me if you would like to discuss in person or by phone. Welcome to the site by the way!

Welcome to MC sparky06! You've come to the right place if you're looking for some no nonsense/ no B.S. advice- great bunch of enthusiasts here.

I don't personally have a Whipple installed, but I CAN say all the FRPP parts I've used so far ( and there's been a few lol) ,have been top notch as far as fit, finish and quality.....can't see the Whipple being any different. Good luck on your decision and congrats on your newest purchase...lucky bastard!!!! lol

I found a guy through the mustang shop - Steve to do the install. He is setting up a shop. I will likely get the mustang shop to tune. Car goes in tommorrow for install and tune next week. Likely try to get a pass or 2 at race city on the last night. Will post pics and dyno sheet.

Welcome to the MC site sparky06.

You will like the supercharger and you will love the whine.

Must be the end of year rush. I have the Whipple installed. The whine is great. No tune yet - scheduled Oct 12. I've Taken it out a couple times on a default tune - seems to cut out at 5300rpm and back fire. I guess I will have to wait for the tune to get all the whine. Looks impressive and sound the same. Got a 14.2 at race city on Friday with 4000rpm shifts. Will have to find somewhere next year to time? anyone heard if Calgary will have a drag strip?????

I'd stay away from the track or any agressive driving until you have a proper tune.

What default tune? Did you install the FRPP/Whipple tune? I had no problems with mine with the FRPP tune but had it dyno tuned anyway. It almost sounds like you're bouncing off a rev limiter at 5300. Did someone set the rev limit low (as a safety measure) until you get it dyno'd?
