My Project

I am in the process of removing the 6 in a row and replacing it with an 87 5.0.,an 88 5 speed and 8.8 rearend. Thanks to all the salt they dump on the roads I had to cut out a bunch of rusted sections on the front frame rails and weld in some new steel lots of fun!I also changed the k-member to one from an 88 stang, want to do a 5 lug swap at some point and the original brakes on the 80 were a joke.I am also changing the interior from red/white to black and or black/grey still undecided. In the process I replaced all the wireing from the 80 with a complete harness from the 82 GT donor car,the 80 had air, cruise etc. will not be using anymore so this gets rid of alot of extra wires and such.I hope to have it running by fall but we will see how things go.

Out with the six

MMMM Rust

Cut it out

New steel,both sides the same

Sandblast and paint

Interior before

Interior now

Lots of spare parts

It's amazing what lurks under an otherwise clean looking interior. Looks like a nice little project.

The interior looks to be in great condition, if it was me and i was going to keep the car red i would just taste it up a bit, black steering wheel, carpet and dashpad would do wonders..

The car will be going black,I love the way they look in black,I almost went white and was going to leave the interior, the car was white from factory but the black won out.
This is what I am looking to achieve.

A great colour choice shovelhead93.

Nice work.

Hopefully you'll be posting finished pictures in the coming months with you behind the wheel.

Thanks for posting your detail to date.
