Strutt Removal

Ok so I am trying to remove the the strutts from my 88 lx,do I need a special tool to keep them from turning so I can loosen the nut,I cant find anything that seems to work.

Impact gun

It's REALLY difficult without one. The tops of the strut are sloted so if you are super strong you might be able to hold the strut while undoing the nut with a combination wrench.

I tried my old impact gun but it didnt work,maybe it isnt strong enough

Yeah you really have to shock it hard. If you are junking the struts you can try holding em from below with vice grips while you take an impact to the top.

+1 on the vise grips when you are going to replace them. Some have a slot on the top for a screw driver and use a wrench. That is how I did up the new ones.

Large flathead with a set or fice grips clamped onto the handle, a buddy to help you also doesnt hurt. Good luck.
