The Alberta Mustang Club was visiting the Cochrane A&W this evening. Lots of great looking cars out this evening.
Lots of 60s era Stang, V6 Shelby, Hertz GT, a few Mach 1's, a Barrett Jackson Shelby (only 100 of these were made, and only sold in Arizona! Amazed to see one in Cochrane), an 05 Roush, a single lonely Fox with t-tops, and my poor dirty car which was NOT ready to show! Many others as well. Anyone else check this out? Don't normally do the A&Dub show and shines but the Mustang club made it worth while. ![]() Interesting tidbit about the Barrett Jackson Shelby, the hood scoop looked at though it was riveted on (with unpainted rivets) and the red striping was squished and wrinkled in spots, somewhat disappointed in the attention to detail... Great color scheme though, not complaining too much the car looked great. |

Yes, the Barrett Jackson Shelby is one nice looking limited edition car and will be quite the investment in years to come with only 100 being made as a tribute to all the work that BJ has done over the years for both Ford and Shelby. The owner is the president of the Mustang Club and just got the car by chance. If I recall my conversation with him from 3 weeks ago correctly, he was actually looking for a Shelby GT and the sales person he was talking to mentioned this limited edition car. All he saw was an e-mailed picture and that was all it took to wire the funds and make a deal. He shows it on Wednesday nights at the Home Depot across from Chinook. Was anyone there this week? Someone brought their brand new black Challenger SRT8. I didn't have a camera as we had just driven by on our way to dinner. I stopped by on the way back and the car looks very nice. Chrysler did their homework and didn't disappoint. I'll make sure to take the camera next week as I'm sure he'll be there again. I know I would be. John

Was there last night as well July 31/08 The Hertz Shelby is from Canmore as was I with the Sonic Blue 05 Mustang V6, in fact we had 5 cars take the cruise. The BJ Shelby is a real nice car and like you surprised to see one at a small gathering (about 45 cars).
It was a mostly Mustang exhibit with a good smattering of Chevy Muscle Beaumont with the 502 engine was a new aquisition by it's owner he just got it at an auction the day before and he loves it. All in all it is a venue worth visiting. Last edited by Sonic Mustang : 08-01-2008 at 11:43 AM. |

The Beaumont was definitely beautiful, what a deep tone as he pulled out to leave. I'd love to hear that 502 at full tilt.
I had my head under the hood of your car! The Livewires had an interesting look to them, what is the sheath that they surrounded with? Mainly to protect from the heat of the motor I'm guessing? Sharp ride! Interesting history on the Barrett Jackson Shelby, sounds like the owner was probably in the perfect place at the perfect time to snap that up. |

Indeed the sheathing is to protect from heat and chemicals but at the same time it makes the already large 8.5mm wire even larger thus making cable management even tougher to find. As I am sure you can imagine the cable clamps that come stock are nowhere near large enough.
That 502 will get to scream at the track some day maybe next year as the owner is an old time straight liner but he wants to change the rear end before doing so. Last edited by Sonic Mustang : 08-02-2008 at 1:04 AM. |
