When modding a 94/95 Mustang GT there are some differences between them and their Fox-3 predecessors. Chassis changes aside, even the familiar 5.0L engine has some important unique features with must be considered before putting your hard earned cash down on performance parts. Many basic parts are a direct swap between 87-93 years and the last generation Mustang 5.0's, these include, but are not limited to; the 5.0L Roller Block, E7TE Cylinder Heads, Rotating Assembly, and Lower Intake Manifold.
However, the parts that are SN95 specific are listed below with general charactoristics of those compenents. ![]() 1. Upper Intake Manifold: The 94/95 intake is a lower profile style originally designed to fit under the hoods of early 90's 5.0L Cougars and Thunderbirds. It features an "elbow" that changes the mounting location of the Throttle Body more forward of the Fox engine. This makes for huge consideration when selecting an aftermarket intake manifold and cold air intake kits. Most aftermarket pieces are designed to be used on 87-93 Mustangs and lack the "elbow" mentioned above. This problem can be resolved with the purchase of a bolt on elbow to locate the throttle body in the correct position or you can totally change the system to the old style Fox setup by following the instructions provided here: Scroll down to the post #16 Mustang Forums at StangNet 2. Throttle Body: The SN95 throttle body is a 94-95 specific part and the correct one must be purchased. Using a Fox style TB can only be successful if the above swap is done. 3. Distributer: Again this is another 94-95 only part, it is located 1 1/4" closer to the block than the Fox one and therefore subjects the TFI Module to excessive heat. This led to premature failure of the module and Ford subsequently relocated the TFI to the fender to ensure a longer life. When replcaing the distributer (or any ignition components) ensure they specifically list the 94/95 Mustang in their applications. 4. Accessory Drive: This system is taken from the Thunderbird/Cougar family as well, it locates the pulleys closer to the block and does not feature the engine driven clutch type fan. This something that should be noted when purchasing, underdrive pulleys, water pumps and more importantly supercharger systems. Most manufactuers have a separte part number these cars so do not think you will save yourself a few bucks by getting a 87-93 supercharger, you will just purchase unnecessary headaches, get the right part the first time. 5. Computer: This is a big one, I am not fully knowledgeable in all the exact differences between the Fox and SN95 systems, but as a basic observation, the EEC-IV found in the newer cars is much more "picky" with mods and even the simple mod may cause driveablity issues. Do not let that statement keep you from modding you own 94/95 5.0, just be aware of it and I suggest further research on the EEC system by the reader. Here are some helpful links: http://www.mustangworks.com/articles...ek-vs-eek.html 6. Headers: Due to differences in the clutch arrangement exhaust manifolds (incl. Headers) are a slighty different design and in most cases Fox parts will case fitment issues. There are many aftermarket compaines which produce the correct parts for these cars. 7. Plug Wires: This one is simple, this Engine uses the standard 5.0L EFI plug wire setup with exception of a much shorter coil wire. This is because Ford moved the coil location from the shock tower to on top of the motor. A Fox wire set will work, just be careful where you place the excess wire, or simply purchase a SN95 wires set from companies like MSD. 8. Camshaft: Ford made minor changes to the camshaft specs almost every single year the 87-95 5.0L was produced. Generally, these changes were to improve driveability, economy, and emissions. The most important change for the 94/95 is the computers' preference to a camshaft with 115 degree Lobe-Separation Angle, anything less may cause driveabilty issues. There are several camshaft manufactuers that make camshafts to this spec, and include Crane and Steeda. These are claimed to be a direct swap and should not require a retune of the EEC, but this author has no personal experience with any of these products. (More Information to be added as I have the time)

The 94 and 95 Mustang is called a max wired car, They are even wired for a pwr conv. top. This makes them very easy to work on and interchange parts and options from other stangs.
My 95 was a v6, during the swap is when i found out this information and continued to add parts to my once bone stock v6. This can come in handy for a variety of different things like when i put in my fog lamps in this witer. the car is already wired for them like stated above all i had to do was put the relay in the power distribution box, and the switch in place of the coin holder, bolt them up and bingo. Not only that you can rob pwr from the convertible top to give your fog lamps constant power, giving you the ability to turn them on when ever you feel like without the head lights needing to be on. so if there is an option your car didn't come with don't distress, go out and get it from the bone yard and install it. Convertible option not suggestd for first timers. Dagz
