Well I think I have figured out how to post pictures (I hope). Big thanks to Darren.
The first project I want to show is the Brembo Brake Upgrade I did in the winter of 2006. The brake kit is the Brembo 4 piston kit c/w 13" slotted rotors. If was original equipment on the 2000 Cobra R Mustang. It has Ford part # M-2300-X. First pics of the orginal brakes on the car. ![]() As you can see they were overheated. Now on to disassembly. First remove the caliper by removing the two bolt. One is torx (T50 I think) and the other is an external torx. Next remove the caliper bracket. It is held on by two bolts. ![]() Here I was checking the original bearings and rotor for runout. ![]() Then I removed the rotor. Next pop off the dust cap and remove the big nut inside. You will need a snipe as it is torqued to 250 ftlb. |

After the big nut was removed the bearing hub was removed. SN95 cars use a sealed hub assembly instead of bearings in the rotor. This is what I was left with.
![]() Next the dust shield has to come off to clear the new brakes. It is held on by three rivots. Just drill them out and knock the heads off. ![]() This is a pic of the new brakes. ![]() And this is a shot of the new brakes vs the old ones. As you can see the old ones were 10.5" and the new ones are 13" ![]() Re-assembly is just the opposite of disassembly except you no longer need the caliper bracket. The new Brembo caliper has its mounting flange extended to use the original holes. ![]() Install the brake lines, and then bleed the brakes. This is a shot of the new brakes with the wheel installed. ![]() Make sure your wheels will clear the brakes as they take up a lot of room. ![]() Overall impressions: The kit is well made and fits the car like a glove with the only modification needed is the removal of the dust shield. The kit comes with 4 piston calipers, 13" rotors, brake pads, and SS braided hoses. The stopping power is impressive. I can now lock the brakes at 150 km/hr. Changing brake pads is now only a 1 minute job. The pads can be removed without removing the caliper. My only complaint is now after 2 years the brakes squeal really bad during panic stops. I have not quite figured out why. Mike Last edited by Farr-Stang : 05-20-2008 at 11:30 PM. |

Sweet looking brake kit man...love those Brembos tucked in behind those rims. Great write up as well. One question though.......did the purple toe socks come with the kit or did you have to buy those extra? ![]() Last edited by GT4MT : 05-21-2008 at 4:39 AM. |

I love the upgrade. I whimped out and bought a stock set this spring when my brakes needed to be done. I plan at some point to pick up the Mach1 brake upgrade kit (Buy Ford Racing Parts!) No shipping to Canada though

Had to buy the purple toe socks extra. I think my little girl was more excited than I was when the package arrived. Thanks for all the comments. This was one of the best mods I have done. Brought about after I had some brake fade going down a hill in the mountains. |
