Just wondering what everyone has done with their alignment after they have lowered the sn95 cars. Mine is dropped 2 inches and has caster camber plates.
Every person I talk to at the alignmet shops thinks I'm talking greek when I start talking about the specs I am looking for. One guy asked me today (while lauging) if I wanted it to handle like a race car bacause of my alignment specs. no man I want it to ride like a fucking ford taurus. He told me that no one should align their car like that, and I wouldn't notice any difference anyways if I played with the caster and camber. So ya where is everyone elses alignment specs so I can say this is what I want.

Hillbilly caribou for ya! Maybe it would be worth it to take it to a bigger city, kamloops or PG? maybe further. Just an idea, im sure you've thought of it.
I asked a shop here in Williams Lake how much to lower my car and they started going on about how dangerous it is to lower these cars and blah blah. Didnt ask if i should, i said HOW MUCH. |

let any 'qualified' front end guy do it. fact is if you go by the specs recommended by most outfits other than factory, you'll wear your tires out going around the block. you can add caster without extra wear, but that's about it.

Your toe settings are the most important for tire wear, this accounts for probably 90%+ of your tire wear, unless you run extreme settings on your Camber. A good all around driving setting is -1.25 to -1.5 degrees of camber, as much Caster as you can get and about 1/16" to 1/8" toe in. This will be a little more agresive than a factory setting, but not react in ways you wouldn't expect it.

May camber is neg 1.5deg on each side after installing the springs. It doubt that will cause too much abnormal wear. There are a lot of incompetent people out there. I've found a good local guy to do my vehicles. I've had many, many alignments done in the past few years, I've been dropping a few of my rides, each with big, expensive tires. It's amazing how many guys have no idea how to correct camber/caster issues. Make me wonder how much they even work on the toe.
Keep looking for someone good. A quick conversation with the counter guy AND the alignment tech and you will know immediately. Good luck. |
