Thumbs down oil whats best

I have a 95 5.0 GT and was wondering what type or grade oil i should be using. The motor is stock with no mods,I only put about 4500km on the car a year, then it is stored for the winter. About 4 -5 months,I was thinking of using mobil 1 synthetic.Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Wow- should be a fair number of opinions on this one!!! I think a good upper end full-synthetic is never a bad idea......after all, it is the lifeblood of your engine.
I've always heard positive things about Mobil 1, but you could throw Amsoil and Royal Purple into the mix as well. Probably comes down to what your preference is......

I run Mobil 1 synth. in a 10W30 grade (versus 5W30) because my car only runs in the warmer weather and is of a higher mileage. There are many arguements as to which brand is best, but I don't have the specific background to even try to make an informed vote for Brand A vs Brand B.

Go with what you like, and stay away from "cheap" stuff like 7-11 and Zellers brands.

I use mobil 1... if you going to watch anything keep track of your oil, keep it clean do regular changes as well. that's how to look after your car's engine.

i have an 83 5.0, i went to mobil 1, and had what seemed to be really low oil pressure at about 4000 rpm and over, i tried a few others with the same thing happening.. so i went back to a conventional oil, and that solved what was happening.. any ideas on that one? lol its a mystery..

Synth oil is actually thinner that conventional oil. If you have any wear on your rings, synth oil tends to get through the small gaps more than dino oil. I usually go with a dino oil that has synth additives, like Mastercrap Formula 1 5w20.

Mobil 1 - good enough for Mercedez benz, Porsche and Ferarri - good enough for me

I actually run Redline though now that Lordco carries it.

I used to run Mobil 1 in an older turbo car I had. Worked well. I'm not running synthetic in my Mustang yet but will likely make the switch fairly soon.
