M-2300-Q Ford Racing COBRA Brake upgrade.

Been Meaning to get this thread posted for awhile, as it stands, it is under construction and should not be regarded as a complete "how-to" until further notice. Until then enjoy!

Cobra Brake Install M-2300-Q

Introduction:

Warning:
BRAKE FLUID CONTAINS PLOYGLYCOL ETHERS AND PLOYGLYCOLS.
AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. WASH HANDS THROUGHLY AFTER HANDING. IF BRAKE FLUID CONTACTS EYES, FLUSH EYES WITH RUNNING WATER FOR 15 MINUTES. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF IRRATATION PERSISTS. IF TAKEN INTERNALLY, DRINK WATER AND INDUCE VOMITING. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.

The M-2300-Q includes the following:
2x Brembo 13" Rotors
2x PBR 2 Piston Calipers (with pads)
2x Caliper Brackets
4x Caliper Bracket Bolts
2x Brake Flex Hoses
2x Banjo Bolts
2x Copper Crush Washers
1x 94/95 Cobra Specific Master Cylinder

Removal of OEM Brake Assembly

1 Raise the car and secure on suitable jack stands or hoist.

2 Remove wheel and tire assembly from rotor mounting face. Use care to
avoid damage or interference with wheel cylinder bleeder screw during
removal.
Ensure you unlock the steering wheel so that you can easily move the
hub assembly around to access fasteners.

3 Start by using a set if vice grips to pinch the rubber portion of the
brake hose, this will keep the line from draining while you work, saving
you time later.

Disconnect front brake hose from front disc brake caliper.
Remove the hollow retaining bolt, (banjo bolt) which fastens the flex
line to the caliper, using a 5/8" socket/wrench. Have a drip pan ready
as there will be some fluid from the caliper.

4 Remove the lower caliper bolt using a T-50 torx bit

Then rotate it upwards, away from the pads and slide it off the front mounting pin.

Remove the pads.

5 The caliper mounting bracket is now ready for removal, there are two
bracket bolts which require a 15mm wrench.

6 Last to come off is the factory brake rotor, if your brakes have been
apart before simply pull off the rotor and move on to Installation. If
you find that your rotors are secured in place with a star type washer,
they likely have never been serviced. These "star" washers were
installed at the factory to hold the rotors in place while the car made
it way down the assembly line, and are not required for daily use.
Simply use a cold chisel and side cutter pliers to break/cut the washer.
Pull the rotor from the hub.

Time to move on to installing your Cobra Brake Equipment

First begin by attaching the Cobra Caliper Bracket using the 2 bolts
supplied.

After inital break in they are great, find myself "overbraking" for routine stops, Can't wait to get them out on the roadcourse this year.

There is a good article about properly bedding in new brake pads and rotors on Stoptech's website. If you plan on using a high performance pad and rotor, it is a good read.

I paid around $460 on sale from MOPAC here in Edmonton, MSRP is somewhere around $550-600. But on boxing day they have a huge annual sale and FRPP stuff was 15% off, plus the strong Canadian dollar made these a steal.
