1995 cobra intake

i have the option of buying a used cobra intake from a '94 cobra with the elbow grafted on like 94-95 intakes come from the factory.
my question is will i have the same advantage as buying an aftermarket cobra intake???
should i buy it or just wait and get a new one???

i'd say, buy it. the aftermarket cobra intakes are made in china now supposedly, and i've heard of a few fitment issues. btw it won't really give you much advantage until you swap for better heads.

If you don't want it, hook an SN 95 brother up with where to get it.

I am very happy with my Trickflow Heads as a product.
But the best way to go is to decide on some guidlines as to what you expect from the car and what your are willing to pay for that performance.
Usually the best plans end up being somewhere in the middle between low cost and highest performance.

If you develop some rough ideas and post them up, all of us would be much better to help you along.

The only problem with using these intakes is the lack of valve covers that will work when using GT 40 or aftermarket heads. The stock gt covers won't clear with any kind of upgraded rockers and i know they wouldn't clear on the gt 40 irons i used. The factory cobra valve covers work but they are hard to find and they only came in black.
I used a set of those and powder coated them in Extreme Chrome and added a new cobra engine build decal for an added touch, they really came out nice. I would have posted a pic but i can't do that yet on this site. If you check out my profile and click on my website link there is a pic of an engine i am building there and you should be able to see a pic of the covers. I have also read that of all the gt 40 style lowers the 94/95 cobra is the worst for flow ratings between the runners. The # 5 runner is supposed to flow an awful lot less than the others. Hence the reason why ford came out with the 94/95 motorsport svo intake with the A-50 lower the same as in the GT 40 Tubular intake. I guess even holley made a replacement lower for that intake also. I cannot verify this for sure but i have read it and to be honest when you compare the two side by side they look the same not like the explorer gt 40 style lower which you can tell won't flow as much.

Right, but you are using GT40P Heads correct? Those are one of the very few pedistal mount heads, and you can get away with doing that. Anything with a stud mounted RR generally will give you a headache using stock steel valve covers.

I just know that on the GT 40 irons i put onto the 5.0 i built for my bird, the stock GT covers would not clear the 1.6 rockers, so that is why i got a set of 94/95 cobra valve covers. They clear everything without any issue. I have tried other styles but the oil filler neck gets in the way of the throttle body.
