I need a new alternator. I have underdrives, and a single 600 watt amp stereo in my car.... Is it worth it to go to a 200 amp alternator, or should i just step up to a 160? the stock 130 just doesn't seem like it would be enuf with the underdrives.....

I'd think you'd be pretty safe with a stock 130 amp unless you have added a lot of accessories such as an electric fan, higher wattage bulbs.. plus your stereo system than and upgrade to 160 would be ideal. 200 seems a bit of an overkill at this point. I've never had problems with stock alternators, but I don't succumb to idling driving or stop and go traffic. I get in and hit highway speed 90% time.

You got it!
130 amp alternator is more than enough for all but the most rediculously ghetto stereo systems. I power a huge electric fan, some rediculously high wattage headlights, A/C, and an inverter for the laptop plus the stereo and she never drops below 14 volts.
