Buy a used supercharged

Hello,

I want to know if it's a good idea to buy an used supercharger, I found a Vortech model SC for a 94-95 at $2500.00 can., it's not a big bargain, but it's around $700.00 less then a new one and the kit come whit the powerpipe, my fear is there no warranty.

Opinion ?

Francis

There is not a lot that can go wrong with a supercharger, but i would find out how many km are on it as there are bearings. I would make sure that the impeller does not have any dings or marks on it from a forein object hitting them. But the biggest problem of buying a used supercharger is making sure that you get all the pieces (brackets, bolts, oil line, etc) needed. As these would be hard to get later and would eat up all your cost savings.

Thank's for your advice, for a stock 5.0 L GT with the automatic, I think that my Mustang whit the Vortech will made around 250 rwhp, is it realist ?

It's this kit Vortech 4FG218-020SQ, whit this pic, I can see if any pieces miss :

From the picture it looks like a complete kit. As for how much horsepower it all depends on the amount of boost and your tune. I wouldn't run over 8 psi on a stock engine, probaly closer to 6 psi in this case because of the lack of an intercooler. Definitely get a tune up after the install. Having said all that i would think 250 HP is not unrealistic.
