MBRP inc, which has become famous for making some of the best Snowmobile and Deisel truck exhausts, has recently expended it's products line to include a lot of passenger cars, as well as muscle cars like the S197. They are located in Huntsville Ontario, on the left side of highway 11 as you travel north towards North Bay. Here's a link to the website... MBRP Inc Performance Exhaust - NEW SITE! GMC Chev Ford Dodge Chevy 6.6LT Duramax 4 Performance Diesel Exhaust 4" Turbo Back 6.0LT Powerstroke 7.3LT PowerStroke Power stroke 5.9 LT Dodge Cummins 6.0 Litre 7.3 LT 6.6 Litre Hope this is helpful to everyone, and I can tell you that the exhausts will sound better in person...the exhaust clips for the Focus sound nothing like my car did...and I know the Mustang will sound even tougher in person too. Also, this is another option for some of us, in case you don't want Borla/FRPP stingers or SLP loudmouths, as a lot of people have them already, or, if you want something in Cdn funds, and a little more locally made than somewhere in the states... Those exhaust setups look nice but IMO, they look like imitations of the SLP Loudmouth and Power Flow exhausts. They're pretty pricey as well. I guess everyone's taste is going to differ on what they think sounds good. Take me for example, I have spent more than $1500 on exhaust just trying to find the right "sound" for the S197. I finally found the setup that sounded good to me. Here's a couple of sound clips.
YouTube - FRPP Headers, FRPP Stingers, and Off-Road H-Pipe With this setup the exhaust note was deep and rough but it had it's draw backs. At 2500 RPM this setup created "trumpeting" which occurs because the exhaust flow was too high since there are no Cats to smooth out the flow. YouTube - FRPP Headers, Stingers, Off Road H, & Virbrant Resonators With this setup the resonators cut back a few db's which makes the sound a bit more quiet but the "trumpeting" has been eliminated. Now I'm thinking of going back to the first setup and I'll do this by purchasing a new set of overaxle pipes this way I can swap out my setup with or without resonators whenever I have the urge. |

I have the canned ones was going to get the FRPP stingers but after I got my FRPP headers I wasn't happy with the quality so after comparing the 2, I went with the MBRP's. The Slp's just don't sound great in the s197's for me but I'm still thinking of a off road H, I liked the first clip without the resonators, This is my 2nd set up I had magnaflows before and they were horrible around 1800 rpm but I'm happy right now just don't know if it's loud enough..hehe

I don't know if they make anything for between the manifolds and the axles...but I bet they could make/engineer some pretty easily...
I had their 2nd Gen cat-back system put on my 01 ZX3 Focus, and had it installed right at the facility in Huntsville. Awesome staff, very polite, courteous, and the folks really seem to know what they are doing too. I'm likely going to go for the version with the mufflers, as I don't want the car to be crazy loud, just have bigger exhausts exiting the lower rear valance, and have smaller/tubular shaped mufflers in place of the huge stock ones (I don't want to see the stock muffler cans and tips on the rear of the car anymore), and maybe a slightly deeper/more agressive tone than stock too, due to the cylinder type mufflers... |
